1st Semester Reflection

Quality of Work Overall, the quality of my work is satisfactory. My actual images follow the assignment requirements and are of good quality. I paid attention to the assignment's objective and met the resolution and format requirements. All of my assignments were turned in on time. I could work on going beyond my first ideas and being more creative. Effort This semester, I actively took photo for the class. I travelled a lot to photograph my desired location or subject, so I did not use the most convenient options. Some of my photography took a lot of planning, such as the blue project, because I had to get three people together and drive an hour to the location. I sometimes shot over the requirement, depending on the assignment. I didn't avoid difficult subjects and I did not give up on hard to get shots. Gottfried Helnwein Image Response Part 2

Helnwein's image depicts a young girl with a somber face. The girl has long light hair, large blue eyes, and very pale skin. Because the image is large, it's supposed to stand out and draw attention, making it seem like the message behind the work is important. I believe the image is spliced together because some lines are visible. The image is located in an urban area and is targeting an audience of people who pass the area. The mood seems very monotone; the girl has no expression to indicate her emotions.

What Art? Part 1 1) The mood is somber and dark. The models have monotone expressions and they appear to be slouched/ slumped in posture. 2) I think these images are photographs that have been edited using Photoshop. 3) The coloring definitely accentuate the images. The specific colors chosen contribute to the mood of the images. 4) I think the artist was attempting to convey strong images of women and the idea of powerful female roles. The creator was successful in doing so.
